Non-Fiction Graphic Novels
Action Philosophers is the award-winning, critically praised comic book series detailing the lives and thoughts of history's A-list brain trust in a hip and humorous way that proves that philosophy is not just the province of boring tweed-enveloped college professors.

Comic Book Comics tells the inspiring, infuriating, and utterly insane story of the American comic book industry in the same irreverent style of Action Philosophers.

Past projects
Awesome: The Indie Spinner Rack Anthology
A fundraiser anthology showcase of all-new works from a who's-who of indie comics brightest stars and featured the debut episode of Comic Book Comics by Fred Van Lente and Ryan Dunlavey. The book was co-edited by Ryan and Indie Spinner Rack hosts Charlie Lagreca and Phil Jackson. All profits from AWESOME were split between the Indie Spinner Rack podcast and a student scholarship for the Center for Cartoon Studies, which was awarded to Chuck "McBuck" Forsman. Awesome 2: Awesomer was published by Top Shelf Comix and included a new story from Fred and Ryan.
Stupowerpowers! The First-Class Role-Playing Game for Third-Rate Heroes
While not officially an Evil Twin Comics production, this early Ryan and Fred self-publishing effort was critically well recieved and also featured artists Steve Ellis, Jamal Igle and Lauren Rabinowitz. Steve and Ryan also made some Stuperpowers web comics.
Tranqulity
Another pre-Evil Twin self-publishing effort by Fred Van Lente and Steve Ellis. Set in the year 2069, Tranquility is a hilarious and horrifying science fiction satire about the titular Lunar colony peace officer's last-ditch attempt to escape her dead-end existance on the moon for a ticket to a new life on Earth. The complete series has been collected as a single volume from Lulu.com.
Evil Twin
Way back in the early 1990's, Ryan created a series of then-untitled comic strips chock full of mean-spirited humor for his college newspaper, The Daily Orange. The art director was so shocked to see such material from seemingly mild-mannered nice guy Ryan that he remarked "it's like these were drawn by your evil twin". The title stuck, and Ryan wrote and drew the strip for 2 years, plus several mini-comics (we'd show them to you, but they're pretty awful) before moving on to other projects. When it came time for Fred and Ryan to publish Action Philosophers, they needed a company name so Ryan dusted off the old Evil Twin title and has used it (for better or for worse) ever since.
